I am really in trouble. I feel like my dream of being a Pretty was destroyed yesterday. I was supposed to have my surgery when a man came to get me to a place where there were strange people. By saying that, I mean that they were not like all Pretties. They looked like cruel Pretties. This place was called Special Circumstances. One of the people, there, was Dr. Cable. She wanted to know where Shay had disappeared. She said that six of her friends disappeared all at once years ago and that she wanted me to find where they all were. She wanted me to go to The Smoke so that the Special Circumstances could find where it was and take everyone there back to the city.
I first tought that I couldn't do
that to Shay because she was my friend. But then, Peris came to see me in Uglyville. I was so happy to see him! Last time I talked to him, I had the feeling he didn't really liked me as an Ugly. Now I know he wouldn't have come to see me if he didn't love me. He said he couldn't wait to
see me Pretty. For that reason, I had to do
what Dr. Cable wanted me to do. I really love Shay, but Peris has been my friend for a long time and I think he's right.
I always wanted to be a Pretty and I
can't wait to be with Peris at New Pretty
Town. I think it would be a mistake to not do what Dr. Cable wanted me to do and to stay an Ugly for the rest of my life.
